Access to Arts Education
Purpose
Strengthen the region’s capacity to advocate and promote positive change within the TK-12 arts education system, particularly for teaching artists, small-budget arts and culture organizations, and community arts-focused cultural practitioners providing in-school and after-school arts learning opportunities; and support local efforts to build awareness of the value of creative youth development work as a distinct and holistic approach to youth engagement.
Action Steps
Establish San Diego as a Create CA “Arts Now” hub, part of the statewide network of arts education advocates participating in professional development and local arts education coalition building.
Form a CYD advocacy ad hoc committee and recommend policy and program initiatives to the San Diego ART Matters board.
